Sundance Channel gets a head start on fashion week tonight (9/8) with the appropriately titled series The Day Before. The premiere episode features Diane von Furstenberg and the preparations she goes through before a big show.  While this won’t replace our favorite fashion show off all time, (Style with Elsa Klensch) at least Sundance is offering us an alternate view of current fashion without being overly commercialized.
Full night of fashion programming starts at 8pm with: 8pm Marie Antoinette 10pm The Day Before: Diane Von Furstenberg 10:30: Girl on the Run: Reports from the Winter 2011 shows

“I’m going to be harvesting Oscar gowns while I’m in Milan”

Brad’s description of what he will be doing sounds more appropriate for a SciFi movie about Aliens or Zombies “harvesting” brains… but tune in this week to watch team Zoe style the Oscars and tame “fashion emergency” Johnny Weir.

It’s Doctor Who time again.  If you haven’t already seen the “Vincent” episode by way of BitTorrent it’s on tonight.  Make sure to tune in right on time for the newest bow-tie mention…

Doctor Who wasn’t the only show that featured Vincent Van Gogh as a guest star this week.  He was also the annoying neighbor of Thu Tran on Food Party.  I never would have pegged Vincent Van Gogh as having a vegan Koala bear for a pet, but I have to admit it was awfully cute.

Even “The Doctor” is wearing a bow-tie this year.

Before you watch the Oscars and the red carpet pre-shows on Sunday stop and think about what everyone is wearing.  Did they choose the dress themselves?  Are they being paid to wear it?  Does it represent their own personal style?  The Fashion industry has taken over the red carpet for their own promotional purposes, and the celebrities are falling right into step.  Is this the end of original thought and creativity in celebrity fashion?
